August 31st - Beng Quan and Prayer

Daily Move ⚪ 日常的动作 崩拳 - bēng quán - "Parry Fist"
“握拳屈臂向外崩击” "Make a fist bending your arm outward to block with the other arm bent"
Possible Uses: This move is a very simple block that can be done from almost any stance. Very similar to the blocks in karate, this is best used as a parry where then you would immediately strike your opponent.

Last Confusing Week of August

The past two weeks have been a little crazy, my work, my training, visiting family, losing sleep, not saving enough money and not studying. So much has happened but I've managed to get through it all and see a good time coming.

Life As for my normal life work has been hectic. I'm changing shifts back and forth from 2nd to 3rd and back again due to some major changes at work. I think they're finally putting me back in 2nd shift for the time being until they find people to hire for 3rd.

I visited my mom and dad since they came back from China and are settling back into American life style. It was good to see them and get some "dadly advice" about my Kung Fu Journey. After visiting there I got some questions answered and a new energy to focus on my goal.

Training My training has been steady, atleast an hour a day of either stretching or kicking work. I've been doing research on different kinds of stretching to help me get to the splits. Things like Warm Up Str…

Third Week of August Begins!

Life  I've spent most of last week recovering, a mixture of a lot of sleep, massaging my calves which had huge knots in them and a large amount of tiger balm. I'm still not used to third shift but if I tell that to anyone they think I'm whining or they say, "It is not that bad" so I stay quiet and get sleep when I can. I really think you could call last week "the week of sleep" for me.

Kung Fu Last week, not a lot of Kung Fu/ Training was done but this weekend I have discovered my body is healed enough I can begin normal training again. While recovering I thought a lot about what I want to do for training, like my training "goals" and what I came up with was simple:
Do the SplitsDo Butterfly KickDo Kick UpLearn New Forms/Moves I'd also like to include more of my spiritual beliefs back into my training. Starting and ending each training session with prayer/meditation. For tips and exercise ideas I've been watching Sifu Yan Lei and KungF…

Start of the Second Week

Life  The start of a new week and I feel refreshed and ready for new challenges (even though I'm still a little sick). I know work is going to be tough but I'd like to try and do my best each day so that theysee I'm a good worker for 3rd shift.

Kung Fu  For my training I might have to take a break and focus on recovery as after doing a workout on Monday (while my calves were really stiff), waking up this morning I found it hard to even walk as my calves are so tight. This week's focus might be on Qi Gong and Stretching, maybe a muscle roller will be bought, as I've never felt this kind of stiffness in my muscles. Must be a combination of sickness and lacking something in my diet.

I have decided that I will do these moves:
- Kick/Kip Up 鲤鱼打挺
-ireal
-Butterfly Kick
-后扫腿/前扫腿
-The Splits 劈叉

Why? These moves look cool when added to forms but also they teach a greater muscle control. Just training to do these moves will make me in better shape as I'll be doing exe…

First Full Week Of August

Life Life has been interesting, not bad and not too good but just normal.

I've been reading various books recently to improve my spirit. Books like, 365 Tao, Thinking Body/Dancing Mind, and The Zen of Martial Arts. Each of them has made me think about things but some ideas go in my brain and right out. After reading these books I think my biggest issue(s) are that I don't focus on the "now" and instead keep focusing on the future and another one is I have too little self control on some things and too much self control on others, there is no balance. I'm like an uneven scale.

With me being an uneven scale I think its finally caught up to me as for the past three days I've been sick with a massive head/chest cold. Hopefully the weekend and healing will help me bring balance back into myself.

It will bring balance back into myself.

(Trying out some of the positive assurance from Dancing Mind/ Thinking Body)
Work For my job I started working 3rd shift which has…

A New Month, New Challenges

The month of July passed by quickly with many ups and downs but as the new month begins it already seems like it will be a good one.
Kung Fu My Training in July wasn't the best as the intensity and the amount of training I did decreased a lot. Work and home have effected my flexibility training to where I've lost progress on the splits by a lot. I'm back to where I started but I have been trying to focus on "sparring drills" (the best I can doing solo training). I've also been trying to incorporate lifting workouts and various body weight workouts to build strength. Everything from push ups, sit ups, pull up and more. Since I currently don't have an access to weights I must use my body and random things to help me train.

Life The month of August already seems to be a good one as I've already gotten what I'd call a "promotion" at work. I'm able to move to 3rd shift and get hired on to the company, both give me an increase in pay and…

July Daily Workout
