The Experiment

So I've woken up just a little earlier so that I can be able to write in the morning. I was going to wake up at six in the morning but it didn't work so here I am at six forty something typing away at my tablet. Though this should technically be a ''morning thoughts'' post I just wanted to make it different today.

After I'm done typing this I'm going to go and buy a game called ''Blood Bowl'' for five dollars. Its older but I don't really care as its a game I've wanted for a while now and its only five dollars. Maybe I'll write up a review on it?

Just looking out at my open but foggy window out into the cool rain really reminds me how peaceful it can be here. For me its a nice reminder of being back in the Midwest but it feels kinda lonely since I'm again in a new location so I have to go out and meet people in a new way since I've graduated high school. Gosh, how I've missed the color green! A strange though but living in the desert can really make you miss normal woods and such. Though there are bugs and the constant humidity I try not to complain as its just normal for the Midwest and I've missed it.

Today we are supposed to be traveling some more to visit another town and get the last of our stuff from the area. Hopefully we will have a good time but I never know with my family. So my painting project for the new tau will be put on hold for now until I return but maybe I'll be able to post some things.

As always I hope you have a good day and return,

February 28th - My Fourth Week in a Kung Fu School

Afternoon Thoughts Man, Fridays are always a great way to wind down as it is just the perfect ending to a hard week's training. We have the Morning Tai Chi class (that I don't go to), breakfast, power stretching and then forms. After a usually delicious lunch we move on to cleaning the whole school making it, and ourselves, ready for a new week.

But before I get to today, let me talk about yesterday.

Thursday was interesting as I realized my knee was getting better but I wasn't pushing it too hard. I wanted it to heal fully. I could jog for a little bit but I just walked the morning 2km. Then came Qi Gong (ζ°”εŠŸ) class taught by Master Yan. We learned/reviewed Yi Jin Jing (ζ˜“η‹η») which I realized I had forgotten almost everything but luckily "The Ten Tiger" Shilat and Master Yan were willing to explain some of the moves to me. So thanks!

After our morning Qi Gong, I was really tired and had an upset stomach from eating to much breakfast. But, once power training came…

January 22nd - Travelling in Shanghai

My Thoughts πŸ€” ζˆ‘ηš„ζƒ³ζ³• I've finally arrived in Shanghai. After a long journey from Minnesota to Dallas and finally to Shanghai, I made it. No flight delays, no bad weather, just a simple day of flying. The hotel that I stayed at was pretty good. I tested my Chinese by trying to check-in and out using only Chinese with a little success but I didn't do that well. I did test myself one other time and that was to order breakfast today! This I did really well and I even understood the hotel staff on the phone, which was surprising.

I have felt weird coming back to China. A few things happened that made me think, "Yup, I'm really back in China". People staring at me, check! The crowded metro stations and sidewalks, check! People talking about me in Chinese because they think I don't understand, check! People arguing on the metro over dumb things, check! Just so many things that make me realize, no, re-realize how different life is here and in America. I'm back to…

February 22nd - Exploring the Village

Morning/Afternoon Thoughts 🌞 Well, as with every Saturday I called my mom, dad and sister talking to them about how they are and how my time is here. Its always nice to see what everyone is doing as I can get so focused on what I'm doing and struggling with that seeing we are all dealing with our own day to day life is... "grounding". If you've read the other post, then you'll know I'm injured with a hurt knee so I can't do much besides rest and some light stretching.

What will my plans for today be?

I want to do some arm workouts that I normally don't do. Pushups will be one of them and maybe curling some weights will help too. Nothing too strenuous as I noticed this morning that my knee is still very sensitive to support at the moment. After the arm workout I plan on doing some normal stretches and maybe looking up some other kinds of stretches to help my lower back and "forward" flexibility for the forward splits.

Once my "training…
